The Association of Central Teaching Schools (ACTS) is looking to designate Local Leaders of Education (LLEs): strong leaders of schools judged good or better by Ofsted who are interested in taking on a school improvement role, supporting leaders in other Birmingham schools to improve pupil outcomes.

The Local Leaders of Education Programme is an important part of the government’s plan to give schools a central role in developing a self-improving and sustainable school-led system. The goal of Local Leaders of Education is to increase the leadership capacity of other schools to help raise standards. The responsibility for designating new Local Leaders of Education has now been devolved to Teaching Schools, and LLEs are associated to and deployed through a Teaching School for their System Leadership work.

The recruitment round opens on Thursday 19th October 2017. Key dates to be aware of are:

  • Application form available from: Thursday 19th October 2017
  • Application round closes: Friday 17th November 2017, 12 noon
  • Reference/testimonial deadline: Friday 17th November 2017
  • Assessment day: Tuesday 12th December 2017
  • Decisions communicated: by Friday 22nd December 2017
